Nigerian Comedian, Basketmouth Criticised After Dabbling Into Politics

It is not for a lack of opinion that most entertainers stay away from making comments on political matters as much as they can. This is partly because there is hardly any terrain that is as divisive as the political, since more often than not, their fans are on both sides of the divide. In other words, entertainers openly bashing party A against Party B, risk losing the affinity of their fans in party A.
 
Gbedu magazine reveals that this is the path that one of Nigeria’s biggest comedy acts, Bright Okpocha (Basketmouth) has curiously decided to toe recently, and as expected, the young man has been getting the bashing of his life.
 
Yesterday, the comedian posted an article on his social media handles in an attempt to deny that he ever campaigned for the Buhari-led government. In his post Basketmouth blamed the Goodluck Jonathan administration for putting Nigeria in the ‘septic tank’ we are currently in.
 
He wrote, “Truth of the matter is that I would have voted ANYONE that could speak 2 words of English against GEJ and that’s strictly based on the amount of greed and selfishness we witnessed from members of his administration in the 6 years that he sat on the rock. They put us in this Septic tank we are in right now…..well, that and the oil price downfall amongst other things”.
