In his new movie, Mike Ezuruonye is ‘Brother Jekwu’, a village champion with ‘earthquake English’, as he puts it.
It is for this comical role that the Nollywood actor is now in Kenya, as Brother Jekwu leaves his familiar village in Nigeria and is transported to Kenya to work for a no-nonsense female boss (former Miss Kenya Juliet Ochieng) who poisons traitors at the dinner table.
A brainchild of Mike and Juliet, Brother Jekwu merges Kenya and Nigeria in an attempt to showcase each country’s role and uniqueness in African storytelling.
Also starring alongside Mike is another Nollywood star Angela Okorie and several other Kenyan actors, including socialite and first-time actor Huddah Monroe.
Mike was recently nominated for the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards(AMVCA) as Best Actor in a Drama (TV/Series) for his role in ‘Breathless‘. Breathless will be released in cinemas on July 1, 2016.
